Miller Brewing Company distributor says it’s ‘Motek Time’ when it comes to tracking inventory and improving warehouse efficiency.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA – January 30, 2007 – Euclid Beverage, a major distributor for Miller Brewing Company in suburban Chicago, is shaking up the beverage distribution industry as one of the first to standardize on voice picking technology from Motek to streamline operations, increase inventory accuracy to 100%, and improve worker efficiency.  Euclid Beverage selected Motek’s Windows^®-based Priya^® Warehouse Management System (WMS) to automate its 200,000 SF warehouse facility outside Chicago in order to increase inventory accuracy and reduce picking errors for expensive products.

Euclid Beverage provides the full range of Miller products to local pubs and massive warehouse stores throughout Illinois.  As the company grew, it realized that simplifying and automating processes would drive efficiency, reduce costs, and eliminate spoilage – all critical factors for continued growth and the ability to add new product lines.

“Euclid Beverage needed a single system that accurately managed labor, warehouse space usage, inventory and the intricacies of product rotation,” said Coreen McCorkendale, project manager at Motek.  “In one system, Priya manages all these functions, giving companies like Euclid Beverage the ability to manage and track inventory with 100% accuracy.”

One of the key reasons Euclid Beverage selected Priya was the built-in voice picking functionality, which the distributor intends to use for picking outbound full-pallet and case orders.  In addition, Euclid Beverage will utilize Priya’s handheld scanners for receiving and repackaging, and its comprehensive reports for inventory visibility.  Priya’s dynamic pick slotting will aid Euclid Beverage in taking full advantage of its warehouse floor space by assigning locations and rotating inventory based on date to reduce loss due to spoilage.

As Euclid Beverage expands its use of Priya, it can rely on Tycan^®, Motek’s standardized implementation methodology, to complete future installations without outside assistance.  Motek, known as the Microsoft of warehouse management software, developed Tycan based on 20 years of experience and hundreds of successful software implementations.
