Supply Chain Total Solution Provider Award Winners Announced
VARs and Integrators Recognized for Innovative Solutions

CHICAGO, IL (September 22, 2002) - Business Solutions, the leading magazine for VARs and integrators, has announced the winners of the fourth annual Total Solution Provider (TSP) Awards for supply chain technologies. Winners were recognized at the AIM industry awards reception on September 24, 2002, at the Frontline Solutions Supply Chain Week Conference and Expo in Chicago. The TSP awards recognize leading VARs and integrators for outstanding technology work in three installation categories. Applicants are judged by Business Solutions’ editors based on the scope of the installation, integration complexity, and the user benefit. Winners included:

               • Innovative Wireless Service Install – Motek, Inc. Motek’s customer was Southern Company, an electric utility company that has a 250,000 square foot warehouse and 20-acre storage facility that provide local Southern warehouses with equipment to service power lines. Southern deployed Motek’s Priya warehouse management software along with Symbol Spectrum 24 wireless LANs, and Symbol PDT 6846 handhelds to eliminate a paper-based system at its warehouse and storage facilities.

               • Innovative Field Service Install - Abraham Technical Services, Inc. (AbeTech) AbeTech designed a batch data collection system for Newsways Distribution, a magazine and periodical distribution company. AbeTech’s equipped Newsways route drivers with PSC Falcon 320 PDTs (portable data terminals) and Zebra Cameo 3 portable printers. The new solution eliminated the customer’s manual data entry, enabled the drivers to provide customers with receipts on-site, and ultimately eliminated up to 2 ½ hours from each route.

               • Innovative Bar Code Install – Vytek Solutions, Inc. Vytek’s solution was for a nationwide retailer of educational toys, books, games, and multimedia products. Vytek installed Symbol Spectrum 24 wireless LANs at 150 of the customer’s stores. Store sales associates were equipped with Symbol SPT 1700 handhelds and Zebra Encore 2 portable printers. The solution allowed sales associates to stay on the sales floor and service customers while printing item and shelf labels via the Zebra printers, which were connected to the handhelds. “The Total Solution Provider awards were created to recognize leading VAR/integrators for their efforts in implementing technology,” said Business Solutions Editor In Chief Shannon Lampe. “There are a number of awards recognizing hardware manufacturers or software developers for new technologies and products, but VARs and integrators have often been the unsung heroes of the technology channel. After all, they’re the feet on the street – listening to customer needs and applying technology to solve these problems.”
