Motek® Moves 850,000 Square Foot Warehouse To Microsoft SQL Server 7

BEVERLY HILLS, CA (January 18, 2000) - Super Store Industries (SSI) of Lathrop California announced the successful upgrade of it's hands / eyes free, paperless warehouse software. SSI upgraded Motek's Priya, the leading Windows-based warehouse software solution, to version 7 running on Microsoft SQL Server 7.

"Priya has exceeded our expectations in every area of our operation, flawlessly supporting a 35% order line growth over the last year with real-time information visibility in a 24x7 mission-critical environment" he continued.

Super Store Industries, a third party grocery warehouse, ships over one million cartons a week from its 850,000 square-foot Lathrop facility. This facility operates around the clock, seven days a week, to supply more than 300 central California and Nevada grocery stores with dry goods and frozen foods. The facility is the world's largest-based automated warehouse in terms of both concurrent system users and transaction volume. It utilizes Priya to support up to 200 concurrent users working 7x24 with one-second response time in conjunction with RF-enabled handheld and voice picking units.

SSI first installed Priya in 1999 in order to replace a paperwork-intensive batch process. In just a few months, Priya produced a 20 percent increase in productivity in both Picking and Putaways. The original Priya system allowed SSI to double per-minute order line allocation; virtually eliminate picking errors; and improve picking, putaway and let down productivity an average of nearly 20%.

About the SSI Warehouse
The 850,000 ft² facility is composed of 600,000 ft² of racked dry grocery, 100,000 ft² of racked refrigerated and 50,000 ft² of racked freezer. The facility picks over 1 million cases per week plus Each picks, up to 220,000 picks per day on 170,000 order lines per day with 15,000 SKUs in a 7x24 environment. RF support includes 10 handheld, 30 forklift and 65 Voice Picking RF units. Priya's Fixed Routing module supports over 300 routes per day with 1-2 stops per route. The system is up 7x24 with on-line backups and data purges. Hardware and operating system/database costs are 1/3 of what a redundant UNIX or AS/400 system capable of handling their transaction volumes would run. SSI uses an AS/400 as their host business system and Priya interfaces to it in real-time.
